2021 is another year of firsts for ALTA: as the pandemic continues, we are programming an exciting mixed-presence conference for our community. Virtual and in-person options will allow attendees to join us this fall in the way that makes sense for them: read more about what to expect here. You’ve told us how important it is that the conference remain financially accessible, especially given the challenges of the past year; in response, we have brought down prices across the board for this year and are offering pay-what-you-can options.

Our Standard Registration rates are listed in the middle column below. For those who are not in a position to pay the standard rate, there is the option of a $50 Reduced Rate. If you are able to pay more, please consider registering at the Pay-it-Forward Rates, which offset costs for others and help make the conference more accessible for everyone.

We’ve created a few ways for registrants to receive discounts: register for the Combo (both Virtual & In-Person Conferences), and automatically receive a multilingual workshop & pitch sessions, at no extra charge. Or, register for the Virtual Conference at the Pay-It-Forward rate, and automatically receive a multilingual workshop & pitch sessions at no extra charge, if you register before August 31. The first 50 people to register at the Combo Pay-it-Forward rate will receive a limited edition broadside printed by the University of Arizona Letterpress Lab!

One thing hasn’t changed: ALTA members still receive discounted registration. Become an ALTA member today for 20% off registration, the ability to propose roundtables and seminars, and other benefits. Read more and join here. And to the extent that you are able, please give to ensure that ALTA can continue its work.

COVID-19 Guidelines at ALTA44 in Tucson

At ALTA, we recognize that guidelines around COVID-19 may change as the public health situation fluctuates. Please refer to this web page for our most recent guidelines.

Attendance at in-person conference events at the Marriott (including the keynote address and seminars and roundtables) will be capped for the purposes of social distancing. We expect that all attendees will be vaccinated at the time of the meeting who are able to be vaccinated, but proof of vaccination will not be required to attend the conference. The CDC guidelines are now recommending that all people (regardless of vaccination status) wear face coverings in public spaces. Assuming this stays true for the week of the conference, we will be requiring face coverings while inside the conference venue. Like you, we look forward to the day when these precautions are no longer necessary. Until then, we will comply with CDC guidelines in order to keep our attendees, friends, Board, staff, and volunteers safe and healthy. Thank you for joining us in that effort!

Attendees should stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or if they have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19.

By attending any portion of ALTA’s 2021 in-person conference in Tucson, attendees acknowledge all of the risks associated with the contagious and evolving nature of COVID-19, and accept sole responsibility for any expense, liability, illness, injury, harm, or loss related to contracting the virus while traveling to/from and attending the ALTA conference. Attendees agree to release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless ALTA’s staff, Board, volunteers, contractors, partners, participants, and representatives from all claims of any kind arising out of COVID-19.

In the event of a positive test result, ALTA staff will conduct contact tracing by emailing all conference attendees to notify them. Attendees agree to contact the appropriate authorities within 1 day, in the event that they test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the conference, for the purposes of contact tracing.

You can also read about the Marriott's pandemic-related protocols and practices on their website. We greatly appreciate your patience as we navigate the circumstances of this year, and hope you will join us this fall in whatever way it makes sense for you.
